Research scientist-bioinformatics in Chennai

An excellent candidate will have a demonstrated ability in common Bioinformatics tools and data systems in addition to a strong understanding of relevant biological systems. The individual who fills this position will be responsible for mining large sequence and expression data sets. He/she will independently design experiments and contribute to computational and analytic components of several Research projects including genome analyses. The successful candidate may also participate in data integration and Bioinformatics tool development. A working knowledge of Genomics is required. The successful candidate will be a member of a talented team of scientists engaged in basic Research and technology development, and will be essential to the interface between data mining and laboratory validation. While the emphasis for this role will be on computational biology, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to publication of scientific literature and intellectual property documents.




Required Skills:
The minimum requirements for this position include a PhD with at least 3 years of appropriate experience in computational biology; excellent knowledge of bioinformatic tools and databases is essential. Mastery of PERL programming, Unix/Linux scripting, sql and cgi are required. Excellent communication and organizational skills are also required.
